Where?
The programming club is located in the centre of Bucharest and is aimed at children between 6 and 15 years old. Here, children will learn digital empowerment through play.
The mentors of the workshops are specialists - pedagogues, mathematicians and computer scientists, who successfully keep children's attention during the activities and encourage their creativity and desire to achieve their goals.
How?
The methodology used to teach children to program computers is based on gamification and working in small teams on a variety of projects and games. Children gain experience, which is very important for the future, by creating and presenting their own games and animations, coding robots and working in small groups.
During the courses, young children will transform from users to creators of digital software, adapted to their age and level of knowledge. In practice, they will create, through the lines of code generated, applications, scenarios, stories, missions. Here, children develop the 12 essential 21st century skills: from creativity to critical thinking and from socialising to technical information.
The programming workshops, held from an early age, are one of the starting points where children will learn to be fair and also to step and analyse a process piecemeal, so as to improve it to the point where it reaches its maximum output in the shortest and most efficient way.
Here, the children continuously practice mathematical, strategic and algorithmic thinking, organisation in space or in plan, as well as creativity, speed of reaction, motor skills and independence of decision making. By creating and presenting games and animations, programming the behaviour of robots, in small groups and through play, children learn to socialise, acquire additional social skills and qualities as well as important knowledge for the future.
What?
In programming workshops, children can work in various programming environments, such as Scratch, Wonder, Blockly, Osmo Coding, Sphero Edu. No advanced knowledge is required. The workshop themes are varied and use games that appeal to children: Minecraft, Roblox, Brawl Stars, Classic Stories, Green Robots, Spiderman, Supermario, Memory Robot Games, etc... . The programming workshops are developed in such a way that they also encourage team spirit, because each child gets their own role and tasks interlinked with the others. The teaching method of the teachers, manages to shape a spirit of fair competitiveness, the children being the witnesses and coordinators of the competitions carried out by robots or characters.
