Kokedama kit and online workshop to create a natural plant pot

Do you have a crafty, plant-loving friend? Give them a kokedama kit! The kit contains a potted plant, substrate prepared according to the species, a strip of natural moss, a strip of jute fibre and tying string.

During the experience you will make, together with your online guide, a natural kokedama pot, following the method adapted for indoor ornamental plants. 

Kokedama translates from Japanese as "moss bowl", and the technique involves protecting the soil and plant roots with natural moss. In this formula, the moss replaces the plastic backing and gives the plant an environment much closer to its natural growing medium. 

Plants in kokedama form are much easier to maintain and handle, and can be arranged in a variety of creative ways. They are most commonly found in a group, hanging or on stands with minimalist designs. 

Kokedama is a natural and sustainable method with a growing trend in interior design and is a fun DIY project for anyone interested in trying something new.

How does the experience work?

The workshops start with a brief introduction of your guide, followed by topics like the sustainability of ornamental plants and the versatility of how to arrange them in our homes or spaces. Next you will present the species of plants you will be working with, 

describing each material and its importance in the composition. Afterwards, you will learn the steps to work. 

At the end of the workshop there will be a Q&A session with questions related to houseplants or plants in general, sustainability in the world of plants and flowers.

Your guide is a graduate of the Faculty of Biology (UBB) in Cluj, and is currently a PhD student in Integrative Biology, a pioneer in circular economy and climate change, florist decorator and entrepreneur.
