Tourist attractions in the area:
- Hiking is possible, depending on the time you have available. For example, on a 4-hour hike you can see a sulphurous lake, which changes colour depending on the concentration of sulphides and copper ions - Blue Lake.
- Another attraction in the area is the Cocos Ridge. Drive to Poiana Boului or to the Pintea Inn, then follow a 2-hour smooth ascent and a half-hour harder climb at the end. From the plateau at the base of the ridge you can see Tara Maramuresului and Tara Lapusului.
- Lake Mogosa, one of the main weekend attractions for the inhabitants of Baia Mare, is during the week a quiet place for excursions. From July onwards, the water warms up and it is possible to go swimming. From Lake Mogosa, by chairlift, you can go up to the Mogosa Peak, where at a height of 1246 meters there is a plateau with blueberries.
- Less known is the Chiuzbaii Valley Fossil Area. On the way to the fossil reserve you follow the course of the river and you can see the "valtoras" in which the locals wash their woollen deer.
