Bear watching in Tinutul Vulcanilor

Observe the brown bears of the Volcanoes Land in their natural habitat, in the wild, at one of the observatories in the Tusnad area, Lake Sfanta Ana. By now you've surely heard of bears sitting and begging for food from tourists at the side of the road. Unfortunately, those bears have been taught wrong and have completely changed their behavior, endangering both themselves and irresponsible tourists. Observing bears from specially designed observatories gives you the opportunity to closely study their real behavior. You will be accompanied by a specialized guide, who will explain you everything about their way of life and what you need to do to avoid meeting a bear in real life.

You will be picked up from Brasov, in the afternoon, and after a transfer of about 1h 30 min, you will arrive in the Tusnad area, Lake Sfanta Ana. Depending on the observatory available, you will walk 400 meters through the forest or you will be taken by a 4x4 car to the observation site. 

Once inside, you will wait for the bears to appear in the area. It is very important to keep quiet in the observatory, do not use the blinking of cameras or cell phones and avoid going near the glass. Although there are mirror-type windows, because of which the bears cannot see inside, there is a risk that they will see you if you get closer than 20 centimeters from the glass. 

These observatories are unique in Romania. They will give you the chance to see these wild animals from ground level. The guide will tell you about their behavior and will answer any questions about bears. After about 2h, you will return to the car and you will be transferred back to Brasov.
