Description

Spend unique moments with a loved one in a perfume workshop in the heart of Bucharest! In this intimate and elegant workshop, you will have the opportunity to discover together the secrets of the art of perfumery and create a unique perfume that reflects your personality. You will explore a wide range of rare essences and learn how to combine the notes to achieve the perfect fragrance. At the end, you will go home with your own creations, an olfactory memento of an unforgettable experience spent together.

The recipe for the fragrance made in the perfumery workshop will be recorded and you can then order it from the master perfumer whenever your bottle is nearing its end.

A brief history of perfume:

Perfume has a history of thousands of years, being mentioned in manuscripts from Cyprus, Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. The etymology of the word perfume comes from the Latin "per fumus" which means "through smoke". The oldest perfumes were discovered in Cyprus and are over 4,000 years old.

The purpose of using perfumes in ancient times was not to seduce, but to ward off evil spirits or to show admiration for the gods, often by perfuming animal sacrifices or other products.

The first evidence of a perfume industry dates back to ancient Greece, and it was the Greeks who started the fashion of using perfumes in ancient Rome. Greek perfumers used fragrances based on olive oil, lily, aniseed or even almond.

Perfume then underwent transformations over time, being adopted in turn by Queen Elizabeth of Hungary, who gave it its modern name, by the Sun King, who used it to cover up a lack of hygiene (courtiers did not use the bath very often due to fears of illness) or even by Napoleon who consumed about 2 litres of cologne weekly.

The best-selling perfume in history is Channel no 5, created in 1921. The name comes from the fact that the famous Coco Channel chose the 5th fragrance presented by master perfumer Ernest Beauxi.
