We invite you on a day trip, starting from Cluj Napoca to Salina Turda, one of the fascinating underground places of the world, and to Alba Carolina Fortress.

This experience takes you away from the centre of Cluj to the fascinating attractions of this city. The trip starts with a visit to Alba Iulia. You will walk around the Alba Carolina Fortress and discover that it is built in the shape of a star. You will discover the picturesque village of Rimetea, a place where the sun rises twice. Then you'll enter the Turda Salt Mine, one of the coolest underground places in the world. The mine hosts an underground theme park, where you can play mini golf, table tennis, and enjoy a family picnic or a boat ride on the underground lake.
Itinerary:
The trip starts in the morning, when you will meet your tour guide. The first stop is in Alba Iulia. Here you will discover the city, known as the largest Roman castle, and its star-shaped fortification called Alba Carolina. Situated in the heart of Transylvania, this settlement has been transformed over time by the German and Hungarian populations, who enriched its cultural diversity. Thanks to the influences over the centuries, you will be able to observe the different architectural styles of the churches and buildings - Baroque, Romanesque and even Babylonian.
The trip continues on a small road, which will take you to Rimetea, a small village full of white houses with green windows, preserved over time thanks to the locals. Here you will have lunch.
Next you will go down to the largest salt mining history museum in the world, known as Salina Turda. The museum includes three mines: Terezia, which reaches a depth of 90 metres, followed by Anton and Rudolf, both offering spectacular views.
After admiring the huge room carved out of salt, you'll descend to the bottom of the mine and reach Lake Sarat, where you can enjoy a boat ride to the lowest point of the museum. A unique view of the mine can be enjoyed as you go up or down in the glass elevator. The constant temperature, naturally maintained throughout the year, is between 10 and 12 degrees, with a humidity of about 80%.
Besides being a museum, Salina Turda is also an amusement park, where you can play tennis, mini-golf, ride a Ferris wheel or even take a boat ride on the underwater salt lake.
After the tour of Turda Saltworks, the day trip will end and you will be transferred back to Cluj-Napoca.

Turda Salt Mine is a salt mine from which salt was first extracted in ancient times, and since the Middle Ages, table salt has been produced here continuously.
The exploitation of the rich deposit was started by the Romans 2000 years ago, during their occupation of Dacia.
About Alba Carolina Fortress
Alba Carolina Fortress is a star-shaped fortress, located in Alba Iulia. Its construction began on November 4, 1715, during the Habsburg rule in Transylvania, and was completed in 1738.
The Alba Carolina Fortress is surrounded by 12 km of walls to protect the city centre. At its beginnings, the fortification was a Roman fort, then a fortress during the Middle Ages, and later, a Vauban fortress with 7 bastions. You will be pleasantly surprised by all the Baroque decorative elements, considered unique in European military architecture. You'll feel like you're in the 16th century, thanks to the Austrian guards in period clothes, who protect the fortress even today.
