Winter snow adventure - one day ski tour in the Carpathian Mountains

Go on a super winter adventure, through the snow, with your friends or family - ski touring in Cluj area!

Ski touring is a winter activity that consists of an organized hike on skis, outside the ski slopes, participants having specific equipment.

The equipment, besides the skis themselves, is made of a synthetic "sealskin", which is attached to the soles and allows sliding in one direction on the snow. The bindings allow the heel to be lifted when climbing.

For the descent, the equipment becomes like a classic ski equipment: remove the "sealskin" from the soles, lock the mobile bindings and the flaps and the equipment becomes a classic. 

Equipment included includes:

• touring skis
• "sealskin 
• lap flaps
• ski poles
• avalanche rescue equipment (avalanche transceiver, probe, shovel)

Personal equipment required:

• ski jacket or down jacket
• Goretex jacket (waterproof)
• winter hiking pants (ski pants*)
• overtrousers (waterproof)
• thin fleece and thick fleece
• thick socks and thin socks
• first skin blouse and tights (wool or synthetic)
• cap
• ski or mountaineering helmet
• buff 2 pcs
• balaclava
• gloves (2 pairs: 1 thin & 1 thick)
• rucksack (30 - 40 l) to carry skis and avalanche equipment;
• ski/snow goggles
• headlamp and spare batteries
• sun and wind cream
• thermos of hot tea (minimum 0,7L)

A route of your choice:

RODNEI MOUNTAINS (Muntii Rodnei)

• The Rodnei Mountains, part of the Eastern Carpathian mountain chain, stretch from the Prislop monastery or the Borsa ski area towards the Gargalau peak.

• The level of technical difficulty is easy
• The length of the route is approximately 12km, round trip
• Level difference: 720m

THE BIG MOUNTAIN (Muntele Mare)

• The Big Mountain, part of the Western Carpathian mountain range, is located at the ski resort of Buscat, at Vf. Monte Mare, at 1826m
• The level of effort is light
• Technical difficulty level is easy
• The length of the route is about 14km, round trip
• Duration of the tour is about 5 - 7 hours
• Level difference: 375m

VLADEASA SUMMIT (Varful Vladeasa)

• The Vladeasa Summit, part of the Western Carpathians mountain chain, are located in the village of Rogojel, at the Vladeasa peak, at 1836m
• The level of effort is light
• The level of technical difficulty is easy
• The length of the route is about 16km, round trip
• Duration of the tour is about 6 - 8 hours
• Level difference: 870m;

ROUTE VLADEASA - RACHITELE

• The Vladeasa Mountains, part of the Western Carpathian mountain chain, are located at the crossing from the village of Rogojel - Vladeasa hut - Pietrele albe - Valul Miresei waterfall
• The level of effort is light
• Level of technical difficulty is easy
• The length of the route is about 20km
• Duration of the tour is about 8 - 10 hours
• Level difference: 580m - 940m

Details of the experience: 

• The trails will be done in the mountains in the Cluj area
• No previous experience required, although it is an advantage
• Duration of the experience is one day
• Minimum age for participation in ski touring is 18 years old
• You must be of average physical condition and be adequately equipped, as per the above requirements
• The pace and length of the route will be chosen according to the weather conditions and the physical and mental condition of the participants
• Gliders are available subject to stock and size. If you do not bring your own lapdogs, please mention this when you want to book your trip
• The experience includes return transport from Cluj, within the limit of available places, technical equipment (touring skis, sealskins, touring harnesses, ski poles), avalanche rescue equipment, medical kit and specialized guide

• The voucher is valid for 12 months for one person
